Just taking a break to figure out what I’m going to do in the near future, also, a planned reorganization of the blog is in order. Should come along either tomorrow or somepoint in the next few days.
They were all the rage when I built my first website back in the late 90s… I guess I’m just getting old… (lol)
My dad and grandmother got together and bought me a Motorola Q Smartphone from Bell Canada, and I have to say, I’m super impressed. Definately recommending it for anyone not willing to drop the dough for a BlackBerry or iPhone.
Apparently, the iPhone is going to retail for 799$ in Canada. Seven hundred and ninety-nine. It’s 299-399$ USD in the states, and the Canadian dollar is worth more than the USD at the moment. Madness…
“And the old black rum has hold on me…” Great Big Sea – The Old Black Rum
Cool interview here, about Bungie, their split from Microsoft and how they just eat the candies that come with gift baskets…
“Well I never hangs for money, Away boys away, It’s just that hanging’s so bloody funny, and it’s hang boys hang…” Great Big Sea – Hanging Johnny
“On August 31, Jessica Zenner was driving her 3-year-old son to day care when her BlackBerry rang. It was the human resources director at Zenner’s work calling to tell her she was fired.”
That’s a quote from this blog post about a woman who was fired after anonymously blogged complaints about her coworkers, never mentioned by name, from her job as a technical recruiter for Nintendo.
On a side note, a demo I found on XBOX Live today, for a game called Bladestorm has a pleasant surprise seeing as how I’ve yet to see anything on the web about this game. It’s made by Koei in the vein of Dynasty Warriors, but based on the premise that your a mercenary commander in Medieval Europe.
“They stopped the hearse on George Street outside Sundance Saloon, they all walked in at half-past eight and staggered out at noon.” Great Big Sea – The Night Paddy Murphy Died
Go on ahead over to http://www.wiifanboys.com/index.cfm/2007/9/27/Its-Time-to-Stop-Porting-Shit-to-the-Wii and check out one hell of an open letter to Wii devs.
Digg.com is a great repository for news, mostly because anyone can submit something, and the active userbase decides what makes the front page. The problem is, however, that the people who make up the active userbase are for the most part either 1) Retarted, 2) Ignorant, or 3) both.
I mean, there is no attempt at maintaining any political balance. It is simply people forcing their views on people, and alot of the times it works, creating more people who don’t know what they’re talking about.
I get it when someone posts something that tears apart something, like say, a Bush administration policy choice. I really do, and if it’s an informed opinion that’s awesome, all the more for it. My problem comes when I see something along the lines of ‘Bush(and/or Cheney) is retarted’. I would doubt that any president has ever been elected that had an IQ of under 140, they’re smart people, likely smarter than the people attempting to bash them.
So please, do me a favor and stop posting poorly researched, ill-conceived political opinions on Digg.com, if there’s one thing the world doesn’t need, it’s another anchor around the neck of the impressionable youth.
Also, I’m well aware that this thread is inviting a serious flaming, and I will address any informed, well assembled arguments. And if you wouldn’t mind digging this… (Oh, the irony.)
